Pack and label your boxes correctly from the beginning.
Fill gaps with packing and seal cartons securely
Proper packing will maintain your goods in the best possible condition
Place large, heavy items at the rear of your storage space
Items you may need access to, place at the front of your storage unit
Furniture
To avoid damage and save space remove the legs from bed bases and tables.
Place a cover over all furniture, ,especially if you're stacking items on them
Use strong secure cartons to store clothing
Empty wardrobes, drawers, etc before transport to avoid damaage and allow easier handling and lifting
Mirrors & Paintings
Protect with bubble wrap or flat-pack cartons
Do not transport or store flat, stand items on their edge
Whitegoods
Make sure all whitegoods (fridges,freezers, etc) are empty, clean and dry before storage
Leave door ajar to avoid mould
Place deodoriser inside to maintain freshness
Dishes & Glassware
Keep your fragile items protected and stable
Whilst in transit fill any gaps in the cartons with paper or linen
Wrap individually
Clearly label all cartons containing fragile items and avoid storing heavy items on the top of these cartons
Moving Checklist
Arrange the disconnection and reconnection of services eg: power, gas, phone, internet, etc
Notifyf your local Post Office to assist with mail redirection
Notify change of address to the following: Electoral Office, Motor Vehicle Registration and Licence Authority, Taxation Office, Banks, Insurance Companies, Medicare and any Club membership or subscriptions
